I signed up for this 90min walking tour to get some historical background of the city. We didn’t do the full 90min because we were expecting another patron who never showed up. Michael did his best to contact her and wait for her to arrive, which did affect the length of the tour; however, with only one customer (me!), we were able to move at a quick pace and cover the same content. It was an educational and enjoyable tour. Michael speaks perfect English and has lived in Italy for several years and certainly knew what he was talking about. Michael was excellent and provided a different take on Roman history, which included going down into the basement of a department store where the only aqueduct that has continuously worked since the establishment of Rome. A couple of thoughts that would improve it: I return as a teacher and the way to get people to remember ideas was to tell them what you’re going to tell them, tell them and then tell them what you told them. I really liked Michael’s off the beaten path approach (though I believe McDonald’s won and not the shop local people), but I think it would be best to set it up just as a teacher would to set expectations. Additionally, it might be worthwhile to ask people to not talk during the tour. He had a group of 12 Airbnb guests and 5 talked almost the entire tour. We just moved away from them but it would be better to ask that people not be taking to each other or during the entire trip as it was distracting in very busy areas that were already distracting. Lastly, as the places were so crowded and we had to wade through them, we’d lost Michael in the sea of people as he held his gray bag over his head which matched everyone there clothes. Maybe use a colored umbrella where he could pop it up as needed and use small to carry? These are easily addressable concerns that I hope make his tours even better. He was knowable, interesting and funny and we liked that his tour was out of the box.

It is “Chiesa di Sant’Ignazio di Loyola’ which we were really looking forward to visit with a guide. Everything else was ok, the infos he gave us were interesting and usefull. Didn’t like the fact he was “in a hurry” all the time. Anyway… worth it!

Michael was fantastic.. We were a little late as the metro had confounded us and he waited. He navigated us through busy crowds to excellent locations where we could hear him speak with helpful clarity. His historical and engineering knowledge were impressive! I won’t spoil the surprise of the unexpected locations, but well worth it. ????

Michael was very knowledgeable and informative and the route was excellently planned. A couple of things that could’ve been better would be a) something like a flag or bright clothing would really help with visibility and b) Michael’s (albeit justified) frustrations with some of the guests’ lateness and some of the residents’ cluelessness could have been better hidden as these did make the atmosphere a little uncomfortable.

Very disappointing experience. At the end of the tour, the guide chased us and demanded more money. We offered to pay more, but he refused and pressured us for more. He did the same to other participants, which felt uncomfortable and unprofessional.

A great introduction tour for a citytrip. Michael tells you something about how the city had developed, gives you background info about the highlights and shows you some nice hidden spots. Exactly the right amound of information and it gave us the possibility to choose some places for another visit in the next days. Great tour.
